How This Woman Gained 22 Pounds but Stayed the Exact Same Clothing Size
Proof you should never link your body image to a number.
Age, weight, clothing size…it’s all just a number. Fitness influencer Victoria Winterford proved as much in her latest transformation post, which revealed that she gained weight but didn’t change her size. Both images show her in a black bikini, but there’s a difference of 22 pounds (or 10 kilograms). The one constant? Her size 8 frame.
“How??” the 25-year-old from the UK asked. “Yep that little thing we call muscle.”
Winterford went on to talk about how the numbers on the scale and on the clothing tag distract us from seeing real fitness results—such as her recent increase in muscle mass. A boost in muscle is a common body change many people notice after switching up their fitness routine, and it can cause an uptick on the scale because muscle weighs more.
“We all get so paranoid over those numbers … we let it control us, how we train, how much we should be eating … when really we need to be focusing on how we LOOK and how we FEEL.”

She tells Health that she’s struggled with finding a more intuitive way to eat and exercise. “I used to be very underweight,” she says. “I would restrict myself from eating too many calories, obsessed with weighing myself in case I put on weight, and definitely overtrained my body. I was very body conscious and always wanted to look like someone else.”
Now, she’s learned how to train and eat properly, and she’s hoping that her message is something others, particularly young women, can relate to.
“The pressures of social media these days make people think they have to look a certain way, [but] realistically we should just be the best version of ourselves no matter what,” she says. “I just want to help as many people as possible [by] spreading a positive message about body image and living a healthy but also balanced lifestyle.”

The association is accusing foreign nationals of unfair practices saying they are suffocating township economies.
But foreigners are dismissing this, saying the move is based on jealousy.
KZN Premier Willies Mchunu met with affected communities and is calling for calm.

JOHANNESBURG – ANC member of Parliament Mduduzi Manana wants to have his day in court to clear his name, said his lawyer Michael Motsoeneng.
Last week, his domestic worker Christine Wiro opened an assault case against him, but later withdrew the charges.

Manana has since denied the claims, threatening to open a case of extortion against Wiro.
But, a day after denying the claims, an audio recording of Manana offering to pay off Wiro surfaced.
In 2017, Manana was convicted on three counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after he assaulted a woman at a nightclub.

News24.com | ‘We are relying on the KZN government for protection’ – foreign shop owners following ultimatum
Foreign shop owners in suburbs north of Durban have said they will rely on the KwaZulu-Natal government for protection should local businessmen attack their shops on Thursday.
The foreign nationals, mostly Somalis, received letters from the North Region Business Association last week telling them to shut down their businesses in Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu by Thursday.
“We have no security measures in place but we’re relying on government for protection,” Jamal Mohamed told News24 on Wednesday night.
Mohamed spoke on behalf of Somali shop owners operating in the three townships.

“The government, and the premier [Willies Mchunu] are aware [of the matter]. We will wait and see if they let this violence and crime take place on their watch,” said Mohamed.
Mohamed said high-ranking police officials from the area were also aware of the “threat”.
Support from the community
“The premier knows who gave the letter to the shops. So, if anything happens to us then that would mean the government did not want to protect us, that I believe,” he said.
Even though Mohamed explained that he was not certain about what to expect on Thursday, he said: “We’re pleading with provincial government to provide us with protection by deploying SAPS in the area in case the attack is carried out tomorrow [Thursday].”
He said foreign business owners had different views on closing their shops after the ultimatum they got from local businessmen.
“Everyone has different opinions. Some have already closed their business, and some would hopefully be operating tomorrow. As much as I know, we won’t close our businesses just like that,” Mohamed said.
He said there were many community members who were against the association’s ultimatum.
“There’s a lot of them who told us that they need us in the community. They even promised us that nothing would happen to our property. They promised to protect our property, but that can’t be a guarantee for our lives,” he said.
Security measures in place, say police
Earlier on Wednesday KwaZulu-Natal police said they were on high alert as the “deadline” for foreign shop owners to shut down their unlicensed businesses loomed.
They said they had beefed up security to try and prevent a recurrence of xenophobic attacks in the area.
“Security measures are in place in all the affected areas. Police are continuing with constant patrols in all identified areas,” said Captain Nqobile Gwala.
A resolution was taken at a meeting in KwaMashu on Tuesday night that unlicensed spaza shops and small businesses in the area would have to register their businesses or face being shut down.
The meeting was attended by Premier Willies Mchunu, the association and foreign business owners.
The association on Tuesday told News24 that it was not optimistic about resolutions taken to address the issue of unregulated spaza shops and small businesses.
Too many spaza shops
Association head Mlungisi Mncube said that while there had been a meeting with the premier’s office, matters were still complex. He insisted that the association’s motives were not xenophobic.
Mncube said the main issue was that too many businesses and spaza shops were popping up in the same area.
“In a way, someone has to close. As it is, the situation is untenable. You will go on a street and see three shops, one after another. Where are we going to get customers?” he asked.
Spokesperson for Mchunu, Thami Ngidi, said unlicensed businesses would now be closed.
“A process will start to register them properly. There is a process of regularising that will take place,” he said.
He concurred that there was a “mushrooming of too many spaza shops in one area”.
Follow-up meeting
In May 2017, foreign national shopkeepers were targeted by KwaMashu locals.
At the time social media posts, claiming that foreign nationals were behind the abductions of young children, appeared to have spurred on the locals to attack foreigners.
In January 2015, a foreign business owner was shot dead in Nhlungwane, Inanda.
In December 2014, there were two petrol bomb attacks on shipping containers from which Somali nationals operated their businesses, in KwaMashu’s C section.
A follow-up meeting with all relevant stakeholders has been scheduled for May 24, Ngidi said.

Sport24.co.za | Griezmann fires Atletico Madrid to Europa League title
Lyon – Antoine Griezmann was the hero for Atletico Madrid as the French striker scored twice in their 3-0 win over Marseille in Wednesday’s Europa League final, allowing his club to win the trophy for the third time in nine seasons.
It is Griezmann’s first major title as an Atletico player, and a fitting way to bow out if he leaves at the season’s end, with Barcelona tipped as his next destination.
Griezmann – brought up in Macon, just 70 kilometres from Lyon – scored once in each half, his lethal finishes coming either side of Marseille losing Dimitri Payet to injury, the French side’s captain coming off in tears.
He now has 29 goals for the season, although it was Gabi’s late strike that put the seal on the victory.
Marseille had been desperate to win the second European trophy in their history, on French soil, 25 years after beating AC Milan in the inaugural Champions League final in Munich.
But it was a flat night for their huge support, who threatened to ruin the occasion by constantly lighting flares and setting off firecrackers at one end of the stadium, with some even being thrown onto the pitch towards the end.
The game carried on regardless, with Rudi Garcia’s side well beaten by Diego Simeone’s Atletico.
Their triumph comes after their agonising defeats to city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League finals of 2014 and 2016. They had previously won the Europa League in 2010 and again in 2012, the latter coming just six months after Simeone’s appointment.
Simeone served a touchline ban here, meaning assistant German ‘Mono’ Burgos nominally took charge, but that did not perturb them on the field.
Having fallen into this competition by virtue of a shock group-stage exit from the Champions League, Atletico were the favourites against a Marseille side whose continental campaign had begun in the the third qualifying round last July.
Just being in this final, their 19th European game of the season, was an achievement for Garcia’s team. But they will look back on the evening with regrets.
After all, they had started well and had a great chance to open the scoring inside four minutes, Valere Germain shooting over from an excellent position after being slipped in by Payet.
It was the kind of chance that does not come up often against an Atletico side who had kept 33 clean sheets in all competitions this season before this game.
Having been on top, Marseille were then punished for sloppy defending as they fell behind in the 21st minute.
Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda opted to play a pass to Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, deep in midfield, rather than clear long. The Cameroonian’s attempt at a touch was awful, and Gabi pounced on the loose ball, sending Griezmann through to finish.
That subdued the massed ranks of Marseille fans, and things got worse for them when Payet, their captain and most influential player who had been struggling with a hamstring problem ahead of the game, came off crying just after the half-hour mark.
Marseilles needed to take the game to Atletico in the second half, but instead they conceded again just four minutes after the restart.
It was a glorious goal, Griezmann finding Koke and then latching onto the return ball as he stormed into the box before lifting a deft finish over Mandanda and in.
Substitute Kostas Mitroglou nearly set up a grandstand finale, his header coming off Jan Oblak’s post, before Gabi’s low drive in the 89th minute made it 3-0.
