Department:
The Design Department is responsible for all of our digital and offline requirements. This covers a lot of mediums, skills and deliverables. We have different levels of designers within the team ranging from Junior Designers through to experienced Graphic and Web Designers.

Everything that is seen from the outside world generally has to come through our department so it is important for us to uphold high standards to make sure our brands and products are represented as the market leaders in all senses.
Purpose:
The Designer, reporting into the Design Manager will have a large focus on creating and maintaining eye-catching marketing material, generating and executing concepts and where necessary, providing support where needed to the wider design and creative team.
You will be creating both digital and some print graphics for items such as Direct Mail and Posters through to digital materials such as banners, mailer imagery, website graphics and video. This will be within a multilingual environment where dynamic designs are required, often with tight deadlines.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
The position will involve the following areas of responsibility:
• Create usable, innovative digital designs and modifications as required
• Create marketing material for our Marketing and Promotions departments which will include banners, landing pages, flyers, and direct marketing packs
• Work closely with key stakeholders to establish project guidelines that consistently support branding and messaging initiatives
• Follow principles of good web design, ensuring that design layouts are compliant to the latest Web standards
• Maintain graphic and technical knowledge by attending design workshops and reviewing professional publications where possible taking a proactive approach to develop your knowledge and gain experience

Requirements

• Competent use of Adobe’s Creative Cloud Suite with a respectable understanding of HTML & CSS
• Proven commercial experience in Motion Graphics – After Effects/Premier/Final Cut Pro
• Relevant Diploma/Degree or similar in a related field such as digital design, graphic design
• Proficient in using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
• Good Typography/Layout skills
• Photography experience
• A solid design and digital understanding with the ability to deliver a succinct and effective technical design
• Possess strong design and conceptual skills
• Awareness of international web standards

SuperSport United are not giving up on the Absa Premiership title race‚ a 1-0 win against Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday night having brought them back from the brink of slipping out of the race.
SuperSport assistant coach Kaitano Tembo‚ on the bench on Tuesday night while head coach Stuart Baxter had a medical operation‚ pointed out that fifth-placed Matsatsantsa have more games against teams ahead of them.
If they can win those – as they did at the home of Wits‚ who dropped from second to third – along with other games‚ SuperSport can still reel in the leading sides‚ Tembo said.
“We dropped nine points in the last three matches.
“And I think this also brings us back in the mix‚” the SuperSport’s assistant said.
“We still have to play Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs‚ so anything is possible.
“But we’re happy that we managed to get the three points.”
Thuso Phala’s 68th-minute goal earned Matsatsantsa victory.
SuperSport had dropped off the pace in the PSL race with defeats against last-placed Baroka FC and back-to-back against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
This had followed a 19-game record-equalling unbeaten run.
Their win on Tuesday saw Matsatsantsa go to 40 points‚ nine behind leaders Cape Town City‚ though SuperSport have a game in hand on the top side.
Tembo praised his players for sticking to their gameplan without head coach Baxter on the bench.
“I think our coach is a very professional man.
“And I think nothing had to change‚ because we do the same things on a daily basis‚” the ex-SuperSport and Zimbabwe defender said.
“I know what he does. We communicate. So it’s nothing new.
“I don’t think his absence really affected the team‚ because he trusts us that we know what we’re supposed to be doing. And we plan with him as well.”
SuperSport next meet Chiefs‚ who they beat on penalties in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend‚ at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune condition distinguished by inflammation of the peripheral joints of the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees and feet, usually on both sides of the body.
Treating rheumatoid arthritis early may make for better outcomes, a new study suggests.
Early death less likely
Patients who were treated within six months of developing the first signs of the autoimmune disease did better in the long run and were less likely to suffer early death, British researchers found.
The findings stem from an analysis of more than 600 patients who were initially diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) between 1990 and 1994. They were tracked for over 20 years.
Over the study time frame, investigators assessed key symptoms of RA, such as swollen and/or tender joints, and indications of disability. All deaths were also noted.
The research team found that patients who started treatment for RA within the first half-year after the first symptoms surfaced tended to have no greater levels of disability over a 20-year period than patients who required no treatment.
A better future
And while roughly 44% of the patients died during the study period, the team observed that early treatment translated into a notably lower mortality risk.
The findings were published online in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatology.
“This research emphasises the importance of early treatment and the long-term benefits of early treatment,” study author Dr Suzanne Verstappen, from the University of Manchester, said in a journal news release.
“In the early 1990s,” she added, “when this study started, only 30% of patients received early treatment, but this number has increased significantly in the last decade.
“It’s expected that in the next 10 years, newly diagnosed patients will have a better future with respect to functional ability, less severe disease activity and improved quality of life,” Verstappen said.

From an early age, I always turned to food for comfort. Every day I would binge on one or two massive, mostly fried meals. Fast-forward to 2013; I was 24 and a mom, but otherwise not much had changed. I was still overweight. Banishing bad habits
Once I recovered and was back at home, I stepped on the scale. I was stunned to see that I weighed 287 pounds! That’s when I decided to revamp my diet. I began prepping three meals and two snacks daily, filling my plate with lean protein—like skinless chicken breasts—along with salad greens and quinoa. I also ditched all fried foods and soda (I had been drinking four cans a day for years and years). With these simple tweaks, I easily dropped about nine pounds a month. The steady loss made me feel so accomplished. By January 2015, I had settled into my new happy weight of 150 pounds.
Family time, transformed
My goal now is to get even stronger. I do a lot of strength training, along with the occasional Zumba class. But my favorite way to be active is with my now 6-year-old daughter. Before, I could hardly walk around our cul-de-sac with her. Now my husband and I walk the mile to and from the local park with her, or we bike to my cousin’s house to swim in her pool. As my daughter gets older (and even more energetic!), I’m reminded of why I got healthy in the first place: I couldn’t bear to miss out on her childhood. And now I know I won’t.
Ashley’s 3 ways to keep the weight off
1. Melt fat with tea. I started drinking green tea because it curbed my caffeine cravings, but I stuck with it when I learned about all its antioxidants and metabolism-boosting perks.
2. Shop and step. Shopping has always been my favorite pastime, so when I started getting active, walking around the mall became my main form of exercise. I’d even wear a heart monitor to help ensure I burned a couple of hundred calories while I perused the stores.
3. Healthy-up faves. I love re-creating the foods I crave—with a healthy twist. Instead of fries, I toss red potatoes with olive oil, fresh garlic, and pink Himalayan salt and bake them until golden. They’re less greasy but still so yummy!
