Job description
Boomtown is looking for a dynamic social media community manager to join our team! The community manager is responsible for being the brand’s voice across all social media channels for our clients. You will spend your day driving quality engagements within the communities you manage to ensure the effective delivery of a brand’s social media objectives. Working closely within a multi-disciplinary social and content team to deliver compelling and innovative work.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring content is posted timeously across social media platforms
- Responding to and addressing the community’s queries and complaints efficiently, professionally and timeously
- Replying to consumers on all online platforms and engaging community members
- Understand the tone of the brands and communicate accordingly
- Drive engagement and conversations with the community and ultimately establishing brand loyalty
- Identify tactical and relevant opportunities to engage with the community
- Regularly come up with innovative ideas that will build the brands
- Execute social media competitions and collating entries
- Working closely with the data and analytics team to drive positive sentiment and optimise on content opportunities
- Compiling weekly/monthly social media platform reports and campaign reports in conjunction with the strategy team
- Explore new angles and tactics for your community engagement approach

Requirements
- Matric and higher certificate/diploma/BA degree in marketing, communications, English, media studies or relevant degree.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a marketing/advertising community management role for a large corporate or agency with FMCG brands.
- Strong background of working with digital and social agencies.
- Strategic thinker.
- High energy individual with great people skills.
- Good client relationships.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial.
- Creativity.
- Excellent written communication skills and a solid knowledge of English. Ability to communicate in a South African language
- Writing copy for online and social purposes
- Works well under pressure
- Keen interest in digital trends and popular culture
- Experience with working with a social media management tool experience
- Teamwork
- Have an understanding of the advantages of paid media within social media
- Have an understanding of digital platform’s copyright infringement and consumer privacy
