The Short Course Faculty runs as a teaching and learning unit offering high-quality industry specific courses in a predominantly self-study environment to students, built on a high-volume digitised operations system.
The Academic Head (Short Courses) is responsible for:
– Leadership and operations management of the institution’s Short Course Department
– Managing the operational processes through which academic functions are conducted and administered
– Ensuring the academic curriculum and teaching and learning practices in short courses aligns with the vision of the institution, is current in terms of disciplines and distance and online education mode of delivery to achieve student success and throughput
– Ensuring overall quality management of short courses
– Leading transformational change in reviewing and development of short courses and digitisation of learning content
– Overseeing effective teaching and learning in the Department by applying education technologies and online systems
– Collaborate with departments on the marketing of short courses
– Effective resource planning and allocation to achieve Faculty objectives
– Research opportunities for short course development opportunities and works with SME in development of industry leading curriculums; and
– Managing the P&L (profit and loss) of the Short Course department

Essential Experience / Minimum requirements:
– 6+ years teaching / lecturing at a recognised tertiary institution in the field of Business Management or a cognate discipline
– Successful track record in operational management of a high student volume digitised learning environment
– Curriculum design, learning material development, assessment development, course certification and taking it to market.
– Proven track record in executing on teaching and learning and assessments.
– Previous application of learning management systems, such as Moodle, Blackboard etc, and other relevant digital education technologies.
– Track record in business planning, implementing financial management processes and exercising solid financial decision making.
– Master’s Degree in academic related field OR Honours Degree with a post-graduate qualification in Education
– A post-graduate qualification in a Business Management discipline or cognate field (advantageous)
