The Department:
The Compliance team forms part of an holistic risk management function which ensures compliance with industry, legal and regulatory requirements. We not only manage and build relationships on behalf of Operators with regulators, Commissions and ADR bodies; but assist in developing robust risk management processes and by working alongside existing teams to guide and advise. We aim to ensure continued compliance for established functions as well as projects by monitoring and reviewing all developments within the regulatory environment of the business.
Our Audit function ensures that stakeholders receive independent assurance that the organisation’s risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively. Where adequate processes has not been established we endeavour to provide meaningful guidance that provide benefit and value. Internal Audit aims to provide management with assurance that helps them fulfil their duties to the organisation and its stakeholders. Improvement is fundamental to the purpose of internal auditing. But it is done by advising, coaching and facilitating in order to not undermine the responsibility of management.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, an exciting opportunity is available for a self-motivated individual looking to join our Compliance team. Based in Cape Town, the individual will be responsible for the risk management system and associated administrative responsibility relating to the duties below.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- As system administrator, to maintain the risk management system (RMS) and providing first line support to users
- Deliver training on risk management system
- Ensuring the quality of information on the risk management system
- Develop and manage administrative processes for the team administration of risk management training courses
- Assisting with the distribution and tracking of regulatory alerts
- Administration support for training programs
- Managing the electronic filing system for risk and control documents
- Managing and developing team administrative procedures
- Provide basic governance and risk advice to staff and managers
- Supporting the compliance champions in analysing risk and control information
- Regularly review the information held on the risk management system to identify issues with quality of the information – working with the business to improve quality
- Training users on the risk management system
- Drafting basic risk guidance and training materials
- As systems administrator for the risk management system, ensuring the live system and training system are maintained
- Lead in the provision of training on the software and maintain the training material used
- To be the main contact and provide first level advice and support on BarnOwl to all users
- Assist the team to identify future enhancements to the risk management system
- Working with the risk management systems supplier to resolve problems and manage any change to the risk management system
- Assist in the management and support of the network of compliance champions across Digi
- Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the post’s band
- Assist the audit function in administration and documentation of self-certifications

Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Experience or proven working knowledge of prevailing governance, risk and assurance standards and public-sector rules
- Risk management experience
- Demonstrates consistent behavior aligned to the Organizational Culture
- Excellent IT skills; fully competent on full suite of Microsoft applications, advanced PowerPoint skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working with databases such as SharePoint
- Experience of acting as systems administrator
- Experience in delivering training
- Experience in working with multiple teams and stakeholders
- Experience of writing reports intended for Senior Management
