Raise your hand if you used to jump rope as a kid. Now raise your hand if you still do. No? Well, if you’re looking to transform your body, it’s time to pick that jump rope back up. Here’s why: It will get your heart pumping, torch mega calories, and improve your coordination and agility. Plus, it can be used to tone from head to toe. “This circuit is a form of HIIT; you are constantly switching gears and asking your body to adjust to challenges of strength training, using a rope,” says Kira Stokes, a celebrity trainer and creator of the Stoked Method, who designed and demoed this workout exclusively for Health readers. “It’s not going to be comfortable the first time you jump or the 10th time, but embrace it. You have to get uncomfortable to change.” Stay committed, says Stokes, and you’ll reap the rewards in as little as three to four weeks.

Start here, repeating this jump sequence after each entire strength circuit.
On the final round, add in 60 seconds of fast-paced, back-to-back skills: 20 seconds alternating feet, 20 seconds jacks, and 20 seconds hip rotations.

Repeat 3x without rest.
Stand with feet slightly wider than hip-width apart and arms straight out in front of you at shoulder height, a folded rope (handles together) in hands. Pull rope taut, so that hands are slightly wider than hip-width (A). Keeping shoulders down and back, raise rope overhead as you sit down into a squat (B). Drive up from heels and engage glutes to return to “A.” Do 15 reps.
Start with feet hip-width apart and arms out in front of you at shoulder height, a folded rope (handles together) in hands. Pull rope taut, so hands are slightly wider than hip-width (A). Step back with right foot, lowering right knee until it’s about 1–2 inches from the ground, forming 90-degree angles with legs, while rotating torso to left (B). Return to “A” and then repeat on other side; continue alternating. Do 10–12 reps per leg.
Start on all fours with hands underneath shoulders and knees slightly wider than hips and a folded rope (handles together) in a straight line, anchored under your hands. Lift knees two inches off the ground, and grab the rope with left hand and begin to pull. Remember: The rope will not move as it’s anchored to the ground with your right hand. Hold tension for 5 seconds, then repeat with the other hand; this is one rep. Do 5 total.

Repeat 3x without rest.
Begin with a folded rope draped diagonally across body, right hand holding non-handled end over right shoulder and left hand on handled end at left waist; lift right foot (A). With left knee soft, back flat, and core strong, hinge forward, extending right leg behind you while chopping rope across body so it hits outside of left foot (B). Swing rope back over shoulder, to return to “A.” Do 12 reps; switch sides and repeat.
Get into a hollow hold, with tailbone tucked, glutes engaged, and core tight. Hold folded rope (handles together) taut with hands slightly wider than shoulders over chest (A); hold for 2–3 seconds. Then, using abs, draw knees in toward chest, lifting up to tailbone while guiding rope over knees and under feet (B) as you extend legs out to return to hollow hold (C); hold for 2–3 seconds. Reverse motion to return to “A.” This is one rep. Aim for 10–12 reps.
Lie faceup with knees bent and feet flat on ground. Hold a folded rope (handles together) taut over chest with hands wider than shoulder-width apart (A). Drive through heels to lift glutes off the ground as you guide rope overhead to touch the floor behind you (B). Reverse motion back to “A.” Slide heels forward a few inches, roll up, coming to sit on tailbone, and then rotate torso to the left (C) and then right; keep rope taut. Return to “A” and then repeat. Do 12 reps.

The High Court Eastern Cape Division has affirmed Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s recommendations regarding the plundering of public resources in the name of the funeral and memorial services of the late former President and struggle stalwart, Nelson Mandela by the Eastern Cape’s provincial government.
The province’s Director-General Marion Mbina-Mthembu had asked the court to have Mkhwebane’s findings reviewed and set aside, but lost the bid and her case was dismissed.
This now paves the way for the recommendations, which are binding by law, to be executed.
In December 2017, Mkhwebane released her 333-page report into the misappropriation of public funds, improper conduct and maladministration by the provincial government and several other organs of state, including four municipalities, in connection with expenditure incurred for the funeral and memorial services.

The investigation found, among other maladies, evidence of widespread irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure in the procurement of goods and services for the memorial and funeral. Such expenditure was found to have failed to meet the test of fairness, equity, transparency, competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Mkhwebane wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to set a proclamation for the the Special Investigating Unit to probe all those implicated, and charge those against whom evidence exists “so that taxpayers’ money can be recovered”.
Mbina-Mthembu’s quarrel with the finding was the Public Protector’s conclusion that the provincial executive committee took the decision to divert the funds on the DG’s advice as the then head of the Provincial Treasury.
“At the time, Ms. Mbina-Mthembu called the Public Protector “idiotic”, prompting advocate Mkhwebane to caution her for the use of demeaning language to express frustration with the conclusions of the investigation,”said acting spokesperson of the public protector, Oupa Segalwe.
“Adv. Mkhwebane is pleased that the court has affirmed her findings and welcomes this development as it paves the way for the full implementation of the remedial action she directed the various organs of state to take. She also welcomes the court’s decision to award her the costs, which will go a long way in augmenting her meagre litigation budget,” Segalwe added.

Mkhwebane said that taking her report on review has never meant that it was of poor quality, and likened it to the appeal of a court judgment.
“It is merely a legal avenue available to aggrieved parties, who believe another forum could arrive at a different decision,” said Mkhwebane.

Cape Town – Four tries from winger Rieko Ioane has helped the Blues secure their first win of the Super Rugby season after they downed a plucky Sunwolves side 28-20 in Auckland.
The Blues came from 6-0 down to lead the Sunwolves 15-13 at half-time with two tries from Ioane and a penalty and conversion from Harry Plummer.
Rikiya Matsuda scored all the Sunwolves points with a converted try and two penalties.
Ioane scored twice more in the second half with Otere Black adding a penalty, while Uwe Helu scored a second try for the Sunwolves.
“It’s been a tough few weeks,” a relieved Blues hooker James Parson said after the Blues dedicated the win to the memory of former squad member Michael Tamoaieta, who died last week.
“The way our scrum performed tonight it was all for Mikey, he was with us tonight.”
Next week the Sunwolves travel to Australia to take on the Reds while the Blues have a bye.

Ah, the keto diet. On the plus side, it’s helped tons of people lose weight. On the not-so plus side, it comes with a whole slew of pretty gnarly side effects like the keto flu, keto breath, and keto diarrhoea.
Now, people are talking about another not-so-pleasant side effect of the keto diet: keto crotch. Yep, some people online (shout-out to r/keto!) noticed that their vaginas started to emit an intense odour after going on the low-carb diet.
To make one thing super-clear first, there’s no research confirming that keto crotch is, in fact, a thing. But that doesn’t mean people aren’t still experiencing some less-than-pleasant odours down there on the keto diet.
Keto crotch sounds similar to the keto breath phenomenon. When your body is in ketosis (a.k.a. breaking down fat for fuel instead of carbs), it produces ketones (chemicals like acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and acetone – yes, that last one is the same ingredient in nail polish remover). These are chemicals that are naturally produced by your body, but, because your body produces more of them on the keto diet, the excess can make your poop, pee, and breath a little more smelly (again, like nail polish remover).
But, tbh, that’s probably not what’s happening here, says Dr Jessica Shepherd, a minimally invasive gynaecologist in Dallas and founder of Her Viewpoint. Instead, it’s more likely that going on the keto diet changes your vaginal pH – and that changes your vaginal odour, she says. “Any diet can change your vaginal pH,” she says, which can then change the odour a bit.
Read more: Can the keto diet screw with your period?
If you notice you have a weird odour going on down there right after you go keto, you may want to give it a few days to see if it goes away, says Dr Shepherd. (Also, definitely, don’t douche. Douching can open you up to a whole host of other issues and increase your risk of infection.)
But if the smell persists or you start to notice other symptoms like itchiness, burning, and abnormal discharge, it’s time to see your doctor. You could have an infection that’s unrelated to your diet.
