Job description

We are looking for a health and safety co-ordinator to join our fast paced construction company. You will be travelling from site to site.

Daily tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

• Inspect plant, tools, scaffolding, machinery etc. and ensure they meet safety regulations
• Ensure that PPE is worn by all site staff, and that PPE regulations are adhered to
• Ensure materials are correctly stored on site and at the warehouse
• Identify and submit risks and health hazard reports/assessments, and the management thereof
• Make sure that the whole organisation complies with the latest construction regulation (of 2014)
• Investigate accidents/incidents, study possible causes and recommend remedial action
• Conduct toolbox talks and training for construction supervisors and site workers
• Assist with the rehab of workers after accidents
• Coordinate emergency procedures
• Conduct internal site audits
• Prepare H&S file in compliance with the OHS Act of 2014 and client OHS specification

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary training
• First aid and fire-fighting certification advantageous
• Minimum five years’ relevant experience in the construction industry
• Must have compiled or assisted in compiling H&S files at previous employment
• Comprehensive knowledge of the updated OHS Acts (RSA)
• Code eight drivers license
• Computer literate and skilled in MS Word and MS Excel
• Second language advantageous
