Job description
An opportunity has become available for a HR business partner within our human resource department.
We are looking for a professional, ethical and influential team player who will add value to the HR function for our retail head office departments.
This position, reporting to the group HR business leader, is based at our head office in Cape Town and is an exciting and challenging opportunity that will require the successful candidate to partner with and empower stakeholders to achieve departmental and company objectives.
Requirements
Key responsibilities include:
- Work in close partnership with the Group HR Business Leader, in full support of the functional and operational HR plans for Head Office
- Provide input to and implement action plans to achieve agreed business objectives in line with Company principles and values
- Implement sound talent management practices:
- Provide effective and efficient recruitment and proactive sourcing practices to ensure quality placements of roles within the agreed SLA
- Develop and maintain comprehensive job profiles
- Implement, calibrate and track the performance review process
- Consult with Line on the personal development and succession plans of team members
- Assist with workforce planning and capacity building
- Implement sound employee and industrial relation practices:
- Facilitate the effective resolution of conflict situations and grievances
- Manage and resolve misconduct, poor performance, incapacity and incompatibility cases
- Manage CCMA cases and representation
- Implement, enforce and keep abreast of labour legislation to ensure organisational effectiveness:
- Maintain and enforce company policies and procedures
- Maintain and update employment contracts
- Manage transformation practices in line with the Employment Equity, Skills Development and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Acts
- Manage effective stakeholder relationships
- Be a trusted advisor to all stakeholders across the business
- Keep abreast of and align to stakeholder requirements in order to meet their HR needs
- Assess service delivery by maintaining regular interactions with business stakeholders
- Coach stakeholders to ensure Line Leaders are equipped and skilled to manage and lead their team members effectively
- Act as a change agent to ensure effective implementation of changes within the business
- Partner with HR stakeholders to initiate and improve the effective delivery of HR practices
- Drive and maintain our culture and team member experiences
- Implement effective induction and on-boarding of all new starters
- Enable and drive a culture of high performance, feedback, learning, development and positive morale
- Support and drive the annual culture survey initiatives
- Ensure all team member queries are managed and resolved in a proactive and timely manner
- Conduct sound off-boarding processes and practices including exit interviews and post-exit follow-ups and reporting
- Effectively and accurately perform and control administrative, analysis & reporting functions:
- Facilitate efficient, timeous and accurate HR, payroll and employee benefits administration
- Ensure that all payroll queries are resolved timeously
- Maintain effective and efficient team member record keeping and filing
- Compile discussion records, minutes, and reports
- Compile, maintain and analyse HR analytics in order to optimize decision-making
- Support and participate in the execution of HR projects and interventions
- Drive continuous improvement and self-development
- Execute and deliver on ad-hoc duties and responsibilities
Qualifications and experience required
- Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification in human resource management/industrial psychology
- Minimum of five years’ proven experience in a HR Business Partner/Generalist role (preference will be given to candidates HR experience within a Retail Head Office environment)
- Experience and sound understanding of best practices in the following categories is essential for this role:
- Recruitment and selection for all roles within a Retail Head Office environment, as well as leadership positions
- Induction and Onboarding
- Performance Management
- Leadership Coaching
- HR Analytics
- Employee Relations and IR issues
- Job Analysis
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Preference will be given to candidates with intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel)
- Experience working with HR and Payroll Information Systems (Preference will be given to candidates with SAGE X3 People experience)
- A sound working knowledge of all SA Labour Legislation
- Sound business acumen
- A valid drivers licence (your own car is preferred)
