Our client, an international engineering and drilling company in Midrand, Johannesburg is seeking a Junior Technician to join their vibrant team. The right candidate has experience and technical knowledge of sourcing spare parts for clients. He/she seeks an unconventional work environment where the majority of their time will be spent working in a bustling yard.

Key duties:

• Service and maintenance of plant and equipment to be obtained according to OEM instruction manuals and company’s procedures and guidelines
• Rigging; de-rigging; mobilization of equipment
• Daily inspections on equipment (recorded in writing)
• Ensures that all service to customer or company-owned equipment is completed efficiently, on time and correctly according to specifications
• Responsible for diagnosing problems, estimating repair costs, ordering parts, proper use and care of tools and equipment, on the job safety practice and proper job documentation including technical report writing
• Ensure equipment in the field is promptly repaired and serviceable for field staff to operate in a safe manner
• Ensure all workshop and field tasking operations are undertaken in a safe, efficient, cost effective and professional manner
• Carry out any other tasks/functions within your capabilities and duties necessary for the conduct of the employer’s business, as the employer may from time to time direct
• Work in-conjunction with Site Mechanic and at all times keep a good client relationship
• Daily communication with management and reporting to the MBS Head Office
• Comply with the company disciplinary code, safety rules and working procedures
• Carry out any other tasks/functions within your capabilities and duties necessary for the conduct of the employer’s business, as the employer may from time to time direct

Qualification and experience:

• Matric and relevant Machanic Trade Test
• A good understanding of mobile hydraulics and electrics/electronics

Key competencies:

• Excellent communication in English
• Good command of MS office products
• Self-reliant and pro-active work attitude, strong communication skills.
• Distinctive customer orientation
• Good administrative and organizational skills, commitment and flexibility
• Must have own transport and be located in the Midrand area
• RSA drivers licence and passport
