CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
|
The core purpose of this nGap academic post is to facilitate and administer research, teaching, learning, and engagement in Construction Management, specifically in the field of Digital Construction, in order to integrate Industry 4.0 into all possible modules, as well as being involved in the core functions of the University.
The nGap program is a DHET funded program initiated to transform Higher Education by recruiting new academics to Universities in line with specific development plans and to enable these academics to benefit from teaching and research development opportunities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
- Facilitate effective teaching and learning in the field of Digital Construction within the Department of Construction Management;
- Undertake subject development related to Digital Construction and Industry 4.0 related modules;
- Assume responsibility for course materials, lectures, tutorials and assessment of modules;
- Provide research supervision to post-graduate students in related research areas;
• Perform administration relating to the above performance areas as well as other academic related functions;
• Conduct and publish independent research in the field of Digital Construction.

CORE COMPETENCIES
|
|
- Ability to facilitate teaching and learning and conduct research or demonstrate potential to grow in teaching and research in Digital Construction;
- A sound knowledge of Digital Construction and Industry 4.0 within the context of Construction Management;
- Experience in Digital Construction or Industry 4.0 implementation;
- Strong skills in working with students, communication, modern construction management methodology and related activities, and a pro-active nature relative to students, academia, industry and professional association liaison and development;
- Ability or potential to supervise post-graduate students in the field of research, and;
- Ability or potential in research publishing.

REQUIREMENTS
|
|
In order to be considered for appointment to this position, preference will be given to candidates who have:
- A Construction Management MSc with a related research topic in Digital Construction or Industry 4.0;
- An average of at least 70% for their Master’s degree;
- Demonstrable interest in becoming a successful academic;
- nGap appointees must be South African citizens or permanent residents in South Africa;
- Registration or Candidate Registration of the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP);
- A minimum of 3 years Construction Management experience;
- The successful candidate must register for a PhD in the field of Construction Management immediately on appointment.
