Legal Secretary
We are looking for a specialised Legal Secretary for a client in Grahamstown. This position is responsible for a variety of clerical and administration tasks. RESPONSIBILITY Provide administrative support Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, colleagues and partners Professionally greet visitors and perform initial screening of clients Attend trials and type minutes Write case briefs and synopses of depositions, contracts and testimony Produce and file various legal documents such as appeals, motions or petitions Preserve an updated case record system Maintain and update inventories of contact details Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders REQUIREMENTS Proven experience as a legal secretary – at least 5 years experience Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations and the court system Knowledge of MS Office and the ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, transcription software, dictaphone etc) Working knowledge of litigation management software systems is an advantage Proficiency in English Outstanding time-management and typing skills Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people Legal Secretary certification an advantage If you meet the minimum requirements and you would like to be considered for this position, please upload your CV before Friday 8 September 2017
