The main purpose of this position is to plan and coordinate the movement of materials and products throughout manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution.

Principle Accountabilities

• Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations
• Monitor inventory levels and help develop plans to increase the speed at which materials flow through the plant
• Resolve problems relating to transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports and customer issues
• Monitor inventory accuracy and implement robust systems for accuracy improvement
• Monitor, report and eliminate causes for premium and unplanned freight charges
• Monitor product import and export processes to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
• Negotiate with suppliers and customers to improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability
• Promote continuous improvement within the logistics function
• Promote good housekeeping and safety within the logistics function
• Conduct performance appraisals for all logistics staff

Education/Experience:

• Matric
• National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply-chain management in a manufacturing environment (experience in the automotive sector would be advantageous)
