A large clothing manufacturer based on the North Coast is looking for a mid-senior ladieswear designer to join their team.

Purpose of the job:

Design, create, and present samples/ranges to generate maximum profits by effectively (in terms of the season, style costs) sourcing and acquiring of trends, colours, fabrics, etc. timeously for the business.
 
Responsibilities:

• Create and design ranges to meet customer requirements to generate profitable business (within set margins)
• Create storyboards/styles/artwork/technical drawings
• Develop and present ranges resulting in sales (meet sales budgets)
• Source trends, styles, and customer profiles to meet customers’ requirements and within budget constraints
• Compiling garment specifications according to customer requirements
• Liaise and meet with sample and pattern departments re technical issues and range development and assist pattern makers with correcting fit of garments and construction thereof
• Source fabric, trims, design swing tags, and ensures availability to enable manufacturers to meet deliver dates
• Prepare import customer inquiry/quotation sheets

Requirements:
 
Qualifications

• Diploma in designing from a recognised institution
• PC literacy
• Graphic software – CAD,  Photoshop, Illustrator

Experience

• At least three to five years’ experience as a ladieswear designer
• Experience and knowledge of both the manufacturing and retail environment at chain level
