A new opportunity exists within a large listed company. This role will present the successful candidate with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and career growth rapidly as the role may move the DBA to new technical environments as their skills grow. The DBA will be responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the implementation and organisation of the databases, as well as assessment and implementation of new technologies.

Duties:

• Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the MS SQL environment
• Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the Database that support the system
• Responsible for the implementation and release of Database changes according to agreed timescales
• Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the database to include rollout and upgrades
• Work to ensure that the necessary resources are allocated to the servers, clusters and databases to ensure high resilience and performance tuning
• To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services within minimum downtime
• Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
• Responsible for working with application owners, such as SharePoint, CRM and Lync to tune databases to best practices and optimise performance
• Responsible for troubleshooting and assisting Software Development perform solving of MS SQL development related issues
• Responsible for the documentation of the processes and procedures
• Work as part of a team and provide support where required

Requirements:

• Relevant Tertiary
• Minimum five years’ experience in IT
• Minimum two years of DBA related experience
• Should have a comprehensive level of technical skills on multiple IT systems and platforms
• Experience3 in performance testing, Tuning, Query Optimatization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
• Strong Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring, replication
• Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components
• Ability to problem solve using deductive Reasoning in a timely manner.
