England star Jos Buttler says the players have been given a re-assurance by director of cricket Ashley Giles that their limited over series against South Africa will go ahead. 

England are set to arrive in the country on Tuesday where they will play three T20s and three ODIs against the Proteas from 27 November to 9 December, all between Newlands and Boland Park. 

There have been concerns, though, that the tour would be in doubt given the administrative crisis currently engulfing CSA. 

Sports minister Nathi Mthethwa has demanded that CSA’s members’ council step down and hand over power to an interim board, but the members’ council has been defiant up until now. 

If Mthethwa’s hand is forced, it is understood that he could place CSA under administration which would have left the tour in jeopardy. 

England, though, are on board.

“We’ve heard about what happened with the board in South Africa a few weeks and months ago expecting that it was all going to get sorted out in time for our tour,” Buttler said. 

“Ashley Giles got in touch with the players to say he was confident that the tour would go ahead and I think everyone is grateful … especially so close to the departure date.

“As players, that’s nothing to do with us.

“As players, we’re just looking forward to the cricket. The boards can take care of those kinds of things.”
