George – A 59-year-old man died after collapsing while jogging close to Arbour Road in George on Saturday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics had arrived at the scene around 08:20, and found the man was unresponsive.

He said they had performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the man for about 30 minutes.

“Unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do to help, and he was later declared dead on the scene,” said Meiring.

He said local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
