News24.com | Neil McKenzie resigns as Bangladesh batting consultant
Former Proteas batsman Neil McKenzie has resigned as Bangladesh’s batting consultant, citing family reasons.
McKenzie has been a regular batting consultant with the Tigers since July 2018, but his contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was not a full-time one – he was paid for each day’s work
He was first drafted into the set-up in July 2018 but has only made himself available before and during limited-overs series or tournaments in that period.
He only worked with the Bangladesh Test side in one series, during their tour to India last year.
McKenzie – who played 58 Tests, 64 ODIs and two T20Is for the Proteas – conveyed his resignation to the BCB through a letter on Thursday.
He told ESPNcricinfo: “Yes, I’ve resigned, only reason being time away from the family.
“With Covid, the schedule, and doing all formats, the time away from my young family would be too much. “I’ve loved being a part of the Tigers and will always have a soft spot for Bangladesh cricket and the great guys I’ve been fortunate to work with.”
Bangladesh is currently coached by former Proteas mentor Russell Domingo.
