Job description
An extremely reputable PR agency seeks to hire a PR account director to head up its PR department. (JHB)
The role has many functions, however, this is the main purpose of the role:
- To manage the PR department
- To manage large local and multinational accounts
- To build strong client relationships and be considered a potential company leader
- To meet performance requirements and growth projections
- To act in accordance with company policies and procedures at all times and be familiar with and support achievement of, the company’s vision and exemplify the company’s values
Other responsibilities of the role:
- To set and manage clients expectations – business development
- To act as the primary clients contact for all the accounts and grows and consolidate client contacts
- To provide leadership in growing existing accounts and anticipate and lead in the resolution of emerging account problems
- To identify and pursue opportunities for developing new business within and across company offices and practice areas
- To deliver strong analyses, strategy and concepts to new programme development and ensure that the team contributes quality ideas and recommendations for new/expanded programmes and proposals
- To develop and manage projects/programmes and the production of materials by the account team
- To ensure team is informed about, and involved in, projects and has knowledge of cases, products, services and the application of resources and technology to client work
- To be an effective planner of media relations strategies, large-scale events and other elements of account/project activity
- To contribute to forecasting/projections done by regional managers
- To develop accurate project budgets and monitor them effectively
- To oversee timely development and distribution of bills and activity reports
- To gain awareness and understanding of our contractual agreements and their impact on agency procedures
- To ensure that staff complete and submit their timesheets on time
- To participate with senior managers in hiring, assessment and career development activities
- To work with senior managers to identify and address supervisory training, leadership and career development needs and opportunities within the team or practice group and help to ensure that those needs are met
- To manage staff to maximise productivity and individual, team and financial performance
- To delegate effectively
- Should have established media, professional, industry, consumer and other relevant contacts.
- To anticipate client needs and problems and develop creative and effective solutions
- To be responsible for overall development of programmes based on team input
- To build and develop agency and client accounts and resources
- To provide leadership in building effective, productive account teams
- To act in accordance with company policies and procedures at all times and routinely invest in building agency morale and capacities
- To be familiar with and support achievement of, the company’s vision and exemplifies the company’s values and ethics
Requirements
- Must have PR diploma
- Very good writing skills
- Strong media contacts
- Must be able to manage staff
- Minimum five years PR agency experience at senior level
- Must be able to implement, execute and develop strategy if and when required
