A manufacturing concern is seeking a Process Engineer to co-ordinate line trials of new paint materials and assist production to resolve paint and related problems in order to ensure a continuous production flow.

  Job requirements :
• National Diploma in Chemistry or similar
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a paint manufacturing or automotive paint plant
• Problem solving / trouble shooting ability.
• Ability to work under pressure without supervision and be a team player
• Positive mind-set and be self-motivated
• Proven analytical and innovative approach to problem-solving
• Ability to co-ordinate people
• Sound communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
• Computer literate
• Basic paint testing and paint performance measurement experience would be preferred
• Sound technical paint knowledge and experience would be preferred
• Experience in surface application optimization would be preferred
  Duties :
• Co-ordinate batch submissions (approve / reject paint materials to control materials coming into paintmix for production).
• Problem solving on-line – support production for any paint related problems to ensure continuous flow of production.
• Co-ordinate material line trials (e.g. alternate suppliers, improved material formulations).
• Raise PIAs (process introduction advice) where necessary.
• Liaise with purchasing for relevant documentation to initiate a change on the SAP system.
• Raise documentation to make specific materials stock items where necessary to avoid raising divisional orders or purchase requisitions.
• Monitor and measure (when necessary) colour, structure, filmbuild & gloss results.
• Assist in lab when necessary.
• Ensure that deadlines are kept and information is well documented in reports.
• Evaluate material usages, identify excess usage or waste and recommend corrective action.
• Support and assist suppliers in the identification of the root cause of quality and process problem.
• Co-ordinate the application and control of the VDA6.1 / ISO 18001 / ISO 9002 Quality Management systems in Process Department
• Ensure all safety aspects of the area are taken and maintained.
