We have a fabulous job opportunity for a mid-weight Product Marketing Manager to work in-house at a great FMCG company based in Cape Town. This exciting role will see you developing effective Marketing/Brand strategies designed to capitalise on market opportunities within the relevant market categories, to grow volume revenue and market share. You’ll be responsible for building awareness and reputation, while measured against return on Marketing programme investments and key consumer metrics.
Responsibilities
- Support with the development and execution of the overall Marketing strategy and take ownership for the delivery of key Marketing projects
- Lead the Marketing function at Executive level
- Drive team cohesion and support with the prioritisation of team delivery dates
- Manage team output quality and effectiveness, ensuring targets are clearly understood and that the agreed KPIs are met (Sales, Leads and traffic to various Marketing techniques)
- Responsible for adapting a brand strategy for the company’s target market
- Brand strategy, including the setting of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short as well as long term
- Assisting with product development, pricing and new product launches as well as developing new business opportunities
- Competitor and customer insights analysis
- Devising and presenting ideas and strategies
- Oversee and review creative team’s output of work to ensure content is on-brand and on-brief
- Compiling and distributing financial and statistical information
- Writing and proofreading creative copy
- Maintaining websites and looking at data analytics
- Organise corporate networking events
- Updating databases and using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Coordinating internal Marketing and promoting company culture
- Collaborate with Marketing agencies to develop Marketing plans
- Conduct in-depth Marketing research: customer, competitor, environment, sales, product
- Create, own, manage, track, and interpret customer experience KPIs
- Development of digital media strategies, including a robust social media and search engine strategy
- Collaborate on the digital strategy across paid and owned platforms
- Plan and execute in-field marketing, PR, promotions, partnerships, and experiential Marketing
- Manage relationships with media partners
- Develop and maintain Marketing and Media mix
- Manage monthly and quarterly budget and forecasts of Marketing costs
- Develop and track ROI from Marketing spend
- Communicate the vision and value of new products to the sales team and develop sales tools that facilitate the selling process
- Plan and participate in the launch of new services and products which involve several different departments
- Support with ordering stock of marketing collateral such as brochures and books when required
- Drive team cohesion and support with the prioritisation of team delivery dates
- Reporting the impact of your initiatives on a weekly basis.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the Marketing plan, through the Marketing structures, in close interaction with channel and sales teams
- Oversee implementation of all Marketing Campaigns, Events, Digital Marketing and Promotions
- Be responsible for the brand specific Marketing budgets for all staffing, resources and marketing expenditure
- Keep abreast of developments and best practices, both local and international, informing the innovation agenda
- Manage existing relationships across a wide spectrum of creative agencies.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Degree in Marketing (preferably with Honours) from a recognised University
- Post-Graduate Diploma – will be highly recommended
- Prior experience as a Marketing Executive
- Several years’ experience in a Brand/Product/Marketing management position gained in the FMCG environment
- Proven track record of impacting key business metrics (sales, leads), through the execution of exceptional Marketing strategies and campaigns
- Excellent research and writing skills, particularly as these apply to Marketing
- Strong leadership, delegation, and capacity development skills
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Respect for people and ideas
- Able to travel in SA and SADC (Zambia, Zimbabwe etc.) – required.
