Job description
The University of Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development Pty Ltd, more commonly referred to as USB-ED, is a private company offering leadership and management development (short course) programmes across Africa for both corporates and individuals. USB-ED has a full-time position for a public relations and content manager reporting to the marketing director in the marketing Team. The successful candidate will be based in Bellville (Cape Town). The appointee will be part of the dynamic marketing team, delivering a high-quality service to clients, the company and society.
Job purpose:
The Public Relations and Content Manager is responsible for coordinating the communications output within a company using various channels. This person is also responsible for producing press releases, networking at events to identify opportunities and to build speaker portfolio, generating content for the marketing team and working closely with an agency deliver on the Thought Leadership content strategy.
Key performance areas and indicators will involve:
Press releases and content management
- Write press releases post attending USB-ED events (programme openings, award ceremonies, marketing events etc.) and non-USB-ED events (workshops, seminars, conferences that are in association or affiliated with the company) that have tailored key messages to target audiences
- Manage the content strategy via external agencies by acting as conduit between USB-ED and the agencies in order to drive on-strategy execution that delivers maximum results from external partner relationships
- Support senior leaders by writing speeches, preparing talking points, video scripts, briefings and other communications products (e.g., emails, articles)
- Manage and monitor production schedules
- Make appropriate recommendations for message, channel/communication method and timing of message
Content for marketing collateral
- Research, write, edit and publish communications products for the marketing team (e.g., print, web, electronic, briefings, media releases)
- Work alongside marketing, digital team and other key players to ensure a co-ordinated and cohesive story is told to the audiences about USB-ED to build a unified brand
Networking with stakeholders
- Attend internal and external events, gatherings, workshops, programme openings representing USB-ED
- Source guest speakers for award ceremonies and high profiled events
- Compile media kits/marketing packs and conduct tours/campus site inspections for visiting faculty, clients and participants
- Maintain relationship with other Belpark Campus Collaboratory members such as University of Stellenbosch Business School, Alumni Association, Institute for Futures Research and School of Public Leadership

Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in public relations, corporate communications, corporate affairs, marketing and/or related field.
- A minimum five years management experience in a content marketing role and/or public relations/corporate communications role with content writing beyond press releases. Understanding of writing for web optimisation and understanding of the learning environment is advantageous.

- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, with proven ability to work across all levels and with all functions of our business
- Writing creatively for multiple modes of delivery suitable to a wide range of target audiences in order to build brand reputation
- Establishing effective relationships with clients and stakeholders, networking effectively within and outside of the organisation and relating well to individuals at all levels.
- Setting clear objectives, planning activities and their sequence well in advance and managing own and other resources’ time effectively.
- Quick-thinking; solution-oriented; adaptive and responsive to change, coping with pressure and setbacks.
- Attributes should include being interested in, and well read on, current affairs/news, approachable, high-energy, highly responsible, efficient, organised, confident, capable and self-motivated with professional image and decorum.
The successful person must be willing to travel (South Africa and Rest of Africa) when required and to work after hours.
