Job description
The core role of this position is to manage the strategy, workflow and day-to-day activities between sales, marketing and research within the company to optimize customer experiences, build quality relationships and ultimately increase profits. The position will be located within a pod, but play a managerial role across the company for sales, marketing and research.
This will be accomplished by:
- Set and achieve monthly targets
- Plan and manage marketing and sales activities according to agreed budgets
- Plan and implement sales and customer retention and development across the pods
- Conduct customer surveys regarding customer satisfaction
Sales role
Effectively work with marketing tools and sales team in order to achieve set sales targets and foster a healthy sales environment.
Responsibilities for the pod:
- Manage relevant reports for management and financial information for the brand
- Manage R&D and new business development
- Supervise sales staff activities
- Manage the product line life cycle from strategic planning to implementation
- Identify potential strategic partner relationships for product lines
- Achieve the team’s sales monthly and annual targets
- Identify team members and individuals under monthly target / not achieving monthly targets and facilitate training, counseling, mentoring
- Implement a training plan and ensure it is rolled out for current and new sales
- Source and close new sales opportunities – assist with closing deals and recommend potentials with hooks and angles
- Ensure that all documentation going to clients is professional, relevant, current, error free
- Manage leads and leads distribution
- Assess performance
- Conduct performance reviews
For the company
- Manage weekly, monthly data from each pod to ensure each brand reaches its quarterly target
- Take remedial action when targets are not met
Marketing role
To plan, execute, support and optimize marketing strategies, campaigns and activities across channels to internal and external audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a marketing strategy aligned with the overall company strategy and sales objectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of the brand positioning and strategy to ensure campaigns (internal and external) deliver on the positioning and communication strategy
- Understand industry trends and best practice, competitor activities, client and product innovations and new technologies to analyse and create opportunity
- Design and manage the development of all marketing material
- Develop marketing related content, such as newsletters, social media posts, articles, emails, etc.
- Monitor and compile electronic presentations, newsletters and sales support mediums
- Deliver the agreed communication activities in line with the agreed marketing plan, budget and activity schedule
- Maintain relations with partners, media and clients associated with key projects and value adding assets
Digital Marketing
- Improve digital marketing performance and the exposure and perception of the brand in digital media
- Develop digital marketing strategy in conjunction with the company goals
- Manage and maintain digital marketing content on various social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Respond in a timely and professional manner to social media queries
Event Management
- Co-ordinate company – hosted, third-party as well as industry events
- Execute event schedule and agenda with key stakeholders
Research
Researchers in each pod confirm if companies qualify for sales and nominations. This management role will ensure that the requisite number of leads have been generated, distributed and captured on a data base on a weekly basis.
This position reports to the pod owner and the management team. A monthly report must be submitted to the pod owner on the last Friday of every month. This report must include, but is not limited to the following:
- Analysis of targets (sales, marketing, research) – red, yellow, green
- Customer feedback and retention including current and new clients
- Marketing opportunities and plans
- Summary of expenditure vs profit

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric
- Relevant tertiary qualification (A qualification in Marketing would be advantageous)
- 8 – 10 years experience in a Sales & Marketing environment (previous media experience will be advantageous)

- Computer Literate (i.e. MS Word / Excel etc.)
