Job description

Penguin Random House SA is looking for a coordinator to maximise sales and, where possible, market share for the company in non- trade markets.

Main responsibilities

• Excellent sales performance and, where applicable, market share.
• Excellent product knowledge of relevant titles
• Maintain an excellent working relationship with customers as determined by each customer’s needs and build customer base.
• Maintain stock levels in select customer outlets in the Western Cape region.
• Current month releases are presented in a designed sub order form, relevant to each customer and region and emailed or delivered timeously.
• Attend and sell at events as and when required
• Plan and execute sales trips and customer visits as deemed necessary.
• Relay relevant information to various in house departments as and when necessary.
• Familiar with and support company policies and procedures.
• Uphold PRH reputation for professionalism, courtesy and ethical behaviour at all times.

Requirements

• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint an advantage
• Moderate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Budget and report writing skills
• Must be able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Creative problem-solving skills, out-of-the-box thinking
• Must be able to work independently and without supervision – proactive, takes initiative, self-motivated
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer relationship skills
• Highly organised and disciplined
• Strong sense of optimism and motivation

Person specification

It is essential that the candidate has:

• Experience in the South African book trade or publishing industry
• Matric qualification
• Tertiary qualification (not an essential requirement)
• Valid driver’s license and own transport. Travelling to locations will be occasional at every two to three months per year
