An opportunity for a Senior Lecturer – Linguistics in the Department of English Language and Linguistics exists with a prestigious institution in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.

All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.

• Facilitation of learning
• Assessment of learning
• Evaluation of teaching
• Support of students in their studies
• Supervision of post-graduate students 
• Assume leadership responsibilities as they related to teaching and learning

Minimum Requirements

• A PhD in Linguistics with demonstrable knowledge in phonology or formal linguistics broadly conceived. Evidence of research and publications in, but not restricted to, African linguistics is required.
• Teaching experience at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels required.
• Experience in teaching and research in some in the following disciplinary areas of Linguistics: Phonology, Language Description, Field Methods.
• Research supervision of at least Masters’ degrees to completion required.
• Emerging national profile in discipline
• Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)
