Job description
A newly created position exists at Van As and Associates for a senior systems analyst. The successful incumbent will be responsible for complete ownership of the systems architecture as well as the data integrity relating to the systems architecture of the company. Furthermore, this also incorporates the managing of all systems service providers internally and externally. The incumbent is primarily responsible for systems analyses, systems design, drafting of system specifications, system deployment, system testing, security assessments, performance assessments and user interfaces with internal/external stakeholders. The incumbent also manages the escalating and resolving of system issues relating to the EDC Management System.
Key performance areas:
Systems analysis
Complete ownership of the systems architecture of Van As and Associates in terms of:
- Analyse existing systems architecture and propose changes to Van As Management
- Initiate and design improved systems architecture, system-related processes, databases and changes to existing systems in consultation with internal/external systems service providers
- Draft technical specifications (from business specifications/requirements) for system development
- Manage the implementation of systems deployments and liaise with internal/external systems service providers and business
- Manage the testing of new system deployments and coordinate actions between internal/external service providers and business
- Develop, implement and maintain system controls proactively and coordinate remedial actions
- Responsible for system stability and proper system functionality and escalate material risks to Finance and Systems Manager
Complete ownership of the data integrity relating to the systems architecture of Van As and Associates in terms of:
- The import of handover files process
- The import of handover balance adjustment files process
- The allocation/re-allocation of handover files to EDCs process
- The data enrichment process
- The withdrawal of prescription and debt review files process
- The import of payment files process
- The system generated error and activity logs process
- The import of CAS transactions into a dedicated Capfin database process
Managing the process of resolving reconciling differences on a monthly basis between:
- CAS front-end Period Summary and CAS Data Export; and
- Captiv8 and CAS Data Export for Handovers and Direct Payments; and
- Pastel and CAS Data Export for Handovers and Direct Payments
Manage all systems service providers (internal /external) in terms of:
- On-boarding (including the development and maintenance of relevant and applicable training material and obtain sign-off)
- Streamlined system integration
- System development
- System deployment
- System controls
- Adherence to systems reporting in terms of the agreed reporting requirements
- Adherence to system security and system compliance requirements
- Service Level Agreements
Ownership of Issues and Service Requests:
- Responsible for ownership of all incidents and service requests logged
- Responsible for the tracking and progress of incidents to conclusion
Liaison with 3rd party suppliers:
- Collaborate with third party suppliers where appropriate
- Constructive relationships maintained
Measurement and reporting
- Continually measure, monitor and work to reduce incident levels.
- Daily/weekly/monthly measure and report on systems development and progress made
- Daily/weekly/monthly measure and report on data integrity relating to the systems architecture
- Daily/weekly/monthly measure and report on EDC adherence to systems reporting
People management
- Conduct regular management meetings to ensure high level of communications, teamwork, integration, motivation, training and productivity
- Engaging, coaching and developing direct reports
- Ensure safe and healthy work environment for employees
- Identifying high potential staff and actively supporting their training and development
- Implement and maintain Van As & Associates Performance management policy and procedure

Requirements
Experience:
- Three to five years’ in a similar role with previous experience relating to:
- Business requirements definition
- End-user application specification

- System integration
- Supervision/team leader of IT staff (i.e. programmers)
Qualification/certifications
- Tertiary qualification in information technology or any systems architecture
- Valid drivers licence and own transport
