Job description
Ninety9Cents is a full-service, integrated advertising agency located in Cape Town, and is one of South Africa’s largest independently owned agencies. Led by founder and managing director Andrew Brand, the agency’s extensive client base includes leading brands such as Shoprite/Checkers, Ackermans, Puma, and Spur Group to name but a few.
We are developing a new team within our Strategy division and we’re looking for a professional, technically-skilled, client-oriented SEO Lead to join us. The successful candidate will be effective, efficient and miles ahead in developing and implementing effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategies; coordinating content, design, social media, pay-per-click (PPC) marketing and other activities; managing offsite and onsite optimization projects and reporting on performance.
Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan, develop and implement SEO strategies for clients
- Work towards organic search optimisation and ROI maximization
- Regularly perform thorough keywords research
- Identify key SEO KPIs for clients
- Direct off-page optimization projects (e.g. link-building)
- Optimise website content, landing pages and paid search copy
- Monitor redirects, click rate, bounce rate, and other KPI’s as determined
- Collect data and report on traffic, rankings and other SEO aspects
- Prepare and present reports regularly
- Identify correct LSM persona to better target identified audience
- Identify problems and deficiencies and implement solutions in a timely manner
- Suggest improvements in process and productivity optimization
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure optimal roll-outs of strategies
- Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO and digital advertising trends and best practices
- Work with social media and PPC teams to optimise campaigns
- Keeping track of timelines and deadlines to ensure that jobs are on-track to completion
- Mentoring mid- and junior team members in SEO skills
- Maintaining communication with all Agency stakeholders at all times to ensure the smooth running and actioning of open briefs in the system and to mitigate any foreseeable problems by reassigning jobs accordingly to available resources

Minimum requirements include:
- Matric/Grade 12
- Tertiary qualification in SEO/digital advertising
- At least five years of experience as SEO manager or similar role; preferably within an advertising agency environmen
- Proven track record in planning and implementing a successful SEO strategy
- At least five years of experience in web analytics
- Working knowledge of standard and current SEO practice
- Experienced with SEO reporting
- Expertise in A/B and other testing methods
- Expertise with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Experienced with relevant SEO tools and web analytics tools
- In-depth knowledge of research principles and methods and experience in analyzing data
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on client’s success
