Continuously enhance the delivery of effective shared services for the Group Finance Department, encompassing, but not limited to: Statutory Reporting; Tax compliance; Treasury; Balance Sheet Reporting; Grants & Other Incentives; Corporate Governance; Financial Reporting & Analysis Etc.
Responsibilities:
Team Management
- Lead and develop a high performing team through coaching and mentoring, to build and grow operational capability with the aim of transferring knowledge and developing people.
- Create and maintain strong team effectiveness strategies focused on core skill building and performance management;
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in the team;
Statutory Reporting
- Deliver individual and consolidated Annual Financial Statements for the South African group of companies;
Tax Compliance
- Oversee the administration of the Group’s tax legislation (Company Tax, Value-Added Tax, PAYE, COIDA, etc.);
- Ensure the Group meets all its tax compliance obligations and statutory deadlines
- Calculate and oversee proper accounting of current and deferred taxes
- Manage and oversee resolution of tax queries raised, as well as the lodging of objections and appeals;
Treasury
- Update 12-month cashflow forecasts on a weekly basis;
- Manage and monitor monthly working capital requirements, cash resources and expenditure Daily cash management and reporting
- Manage online banking access and record keeping for the Group;
- Manage accurate processing and reconciliation of all Group bank accounts;
Balance Sheet
- Deliver accurate and complete Group Balance Sheet Reconciliation Packs in accordance with monthly deadlines;
- Undertake quality reviews of GL reconciliations and assist in clearing reconciling items with the respective Finance Managers
Grants & Other Incentive
- Manage incentive scheme audits and claim submissions;
- Ensure all grant reporting requirements are adhered to;
Intercompany
- Ensure all intercompany accounts are reconciled and balanced in accordance with monthly deadlines;
- Ensure Group Related Party Disclosure Schedules are updated monthly;
Corporate Governance
- Perform continuous assessments of departmental workflows, processes and procedures to help develop and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures (flowcharts, etc.);
- Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with approved company financial policies and procedures.
- Identify and act upon opportunities to create value (i.e. become a business partner to senior management);
- Collaborate with peers to ensure appropriate levels of commonality and best practice are achieved and adopted across the group of companies;
Reporting, Analysis & General Support
- Ensure accurate & timeous completion and distribution of Standard Group Finance Reports and Reconciliations;
- Assist with Budgeting, Forecasting, Costing, Financial Modeling, etc.
- Manage and assist with BBBEE, Statutory, Internal and Other audits to ensure compliance.
- Manage and deliver Finance Projects as required;
- Support Operations with general finance requests;
- Ad-hoc analysis and support as required;
Level of Authority
- Provides input into design of policies & procedures, but decisions are approved by the Head of Finance;
- Operational management of the Shared Services Finance Division;
- Planning time frame is typically on annual basis updated weekly/monthly according to specific work requirements;
- Limited to approval of payments within the agreed scope
- Verifies all transaction processing through sign off.
Minimum Requirements:
Chartered Accountant with 5 years post qualification experience Alternatively, BCom Honours with completed SAICA/SAIPA articles and 10 years post articles experience 2 years senior management experience
