Cape Town – Proteas batsman David Miller says he was delighted claim the fastest T20 International century ever in the second T20I against Bangladesh on Sunday.

Miller produced a scintillating knock as he hit an unbeaten 101 off 36 balls (seven fours, nine sixes) and handed the Proteas a 2-0 series victory and with it, a historic clean sweep across all three formats against Bangladesh.

Miller reached his hundred off just 35 balls, shattering the record of 45 balls set previously by former Proteas batsman Richard Levi in 2012.

Speaking after notching a maiden T20 century at Senwes Park, Miller said, “I’m really stoked to get the record, it’s not something that you wake up and something you dream of every day.

“Obviously it’s a knock that doesn’t come too often and it was really enjoyable. I had some great support from Hash (Hashim Amla) who has been doing really well and Fudgie (Farhaan Behardien) at the back end and it was a team effort at the end of the day.

“But I really enjoyed playing some shots at the back end and a lot of the times the shots come instinctively and you just go with the flow.”

Miller, who was promoted up the order and came in at No 5, said he’ll love to bat higher for the Proteas if given the opportunity.

“I would love to bat higher at No 4 or No 5, I’ve really enjoyed No 5 and we’ve got some world-class batsmen who take up the top four, I respect that,” said Miller.

“At the moment, I want to take each opportunity as it comes and try to see where I see myself and I’ll try and do my best whatever the team requires at the time.”
