The operations manager of events and sales is responsible for the team of sales executives with the main objective being to generate income from events and conferences organised and facilitated through Africa Investor. The operations manager will play a crucial role in leading the team to achieve quarterly sales targets and ensure that all events are run seamlessly with focus on ensuring the brand reputation is upheld in the market. A passion for the events industry and strong track record in sales with a solid background in event delivery and logistics is essential. The head of events and sales ensures that they are proactive, hard working and able to work under their own initiative. With a strong commercial mind , they must be able to identify opportunities for revenue growth and then strategically plan to deliver on these opportunities.
The event and sales operation manager is at the forefront of the company and specialise in business research and project management. You will research and put together the intellectual content of conference strategies, implementation of strategies and the initiate as well as ensure development of the cutting edge of business strategy. You will be responsible for structuring the conference agenda as a result of live telephone research with senior managers from a cross section of companies, selecting and inviting high level speakers, copy writing, designing the conference brochure and ensuring profitability of entire projects – from the initial idea to the smooth running of the event. You will work closely with the Head of Operations to ensure the best possible marketing campaign to put together an effective sponsorship strategy.
You will also be responsible for managing and growing various Ai business clubs and networks, digital marketing for executive club, newsletters, Ai Capital, and PSWF Forums including project coordination for Africa PLC.
Undertake detailed telephone and desk research on specific conference topics and programme themes with senior level business executives;
Develop a detail calendar for marketing per year, the associated synergies and strategic opportunities as well as sales potential for the year;
You will take overall responsibility for the strategic direction on the Ai Academy, developing engagement opportunities, communication strategies as well as forum event initiatives from concept to execution of event;
Develop intellectual content of the conference agenda based on research with the target market;
Ensure that the senior and most strategic speakers are secured well ahead of time for event participation to ensure their availability;
Copywriting and proof reading across all the communication and marketing material produced;
Marketing research and sponsorship lead/sales generation and communication with those departments;
Execute and complete projects on time and on budget;
Ensure comprehensive onsite speaker management during events;
Ensure conference administration is adhered to and processes are recorded;
Ensure the brand reputation is upheld with all stakeholders as well as Relationship management with speakers and delegates;
Due to the high profile of all attendees all information is to be approved and submitted for the approval process well before time, ensuring this process is completed is the responsibility of the head of events and sales;
Liaising with other departments and external meetings;
Responsible for building and maintaining Ai Executive Club and other Africa investor networks
Responsible for Digital marketing – Newsletters – Ai Academy Forums

A strong historic knowledge and experience in the events and media industry
