Our adaptable client that concentrates on online publicizing services and web development is looking to employ a Technical Systems Administrator at their Johannesburg office. Must have a basic understanding of ISP related server technologies such as Mail DNS FTP and NTP and Apache, MySQL, Postfix. Must be able to administer various virtualization platforms e.g. Citrix Xen and VMWare. Valid drivers and own transportis preferred.

Duties:

• Responsible for constant client liaison.
• Basic administration as well as daily reporting to the Team Leader.

Requirements:

• Basic understanding of ISP-related server technologies such as Mail DNS FTP and NTP & Apache, MySQL, Postfix.
• Experience working with open-source monitoring platforms.
• Experience maintaining a backup solution.
• Must be able to administer various virtualisation platforms e.g. Citrix Xen and VMWare.
• Basic Maintenance, upgrade and support of a Network and Server environment.
• Valid Drivers Licence, preferably with own transport.
• Two to three years’ Linux experience in Customer Service / Support environment.
• Understanding of POP3/SMTP and MX Configuration.
• Understanding of DNS and DNS hierarchical structure.
• Understanding of Mikrotik Hardware and proprietary protocols.
• Configuration of Linux operating system environments mainly Centos.
• Must have excellent fault-finding ability & methodology – Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Must have Excellent telephone etiquette.
• Must be able to Operate, monitor and configure: Proxy Servers, Firewalls and Routers.
• Must be target driven, focused and dedicated.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must have reporting skills.
• Basic administration skills.
• Must be Reliable, responsible and proactive.
• Strong sense of Ownership.
