Job description

Ventureburn is looking for a hungry and talented intern journalist who is passionate about African tech startups, entrepreneurship and business. The selected intern will join the Ventureburn team for a period of three months and gain valuable experience in the industry of digital media. 

Job spec: 

• Writing content catering to Ventureburns’ brand pillars
• Creating a headline, subheading, meta description for all stories written 
• Follow through with tasks provided by the editor 
• Sourcing of breaking news stories relating to the Ventureburn platform brand 
• Able to schedule on social media channels and monitor comments etc. 
• Adhering to journalistic ethics and rules associated with Burnmedia 
• Writing of sponsored content for specific clients based on briefs
• Thorough research skills

Requirements: 

• A qualification in journalism 
• At least three months experience in writing in the field of news, features etc.
• A love for entrepreneurship, startups and understanding the foundations  
• Be willing to learn and adapt to the position in terms of writing various forms of content from hard news to feature pieces
• Be independent and willing to take criticism on work submitted 
• Be willing to collaborate with other members of the team and contribute to the overall growth of Ventureburn 
• Basic understanding of SEO and social media management. 
• Experience using CMS such as WordPress 
• Experience with basic image editing software ie. Gimp, paint etc.
