Duties and responsibilities

The role of a Video Producer within Justpalm includes the following responsibilities and key duties:

Ideation

• Brainstorming creative video, audio and photographic shoots with your team.
• Helping with scripting and storyboarding to ensure the creative vision is possible to implement based on budget and teams abilities.
• Assist with storyboarding and presentation to internal and external stakeholders.

Production

• Producing multimedia (Video and Audio) content as per brief instructions paying careful attention to client KPI’s.
• Source and secure talent required for shoots quickly and efficiently.
• Scout and secure shoot locations
• Coordinate hours and manpower within allocated budget before shoots.
• Develop full and ready production schedules
• Ensure that all gear required for shoots is available on the day with batteries fully charged.
• Delegation of tasks to team members while keeping a birds-eye view on all deliverables

Directing

• Ensure that you understand in full the requirements as per brief instructions, client CI and Creative Direction before undertaking a shoot.
• Coordinate and direct shoots on the day to ensure your team is following production schedules.
• Direct and coach your team, talent, and additional crewmembers efficiently and seamlessly to make sure that all requirements and creative vision is met.

Editing and Engineering

• Record and edit video and sound content, selecting program format for final output.
• Capturing, importing and organizing raw media objects.
• Editing raw footage and sound files as per brief instructions
• Creating and inserting static and motion graphics (VFX) and adding music, voice over (SFX).
• Media management and archiving of all footage for the client.

Budget Control

• Control budget for pre, post and on the day production ensuring the profitability of the company at all times
• Ensure upfront payments for clients are secure.
• Track and monitor payments for equipment, talent, freelancers and overall shoot.
• Monitor people’s hours to ensure that the company does not over or under service the client.

Working within a team

• Co-ordinate and discuss shoots with the team bringing a high degree of knowledge and experience
• Work seamlessly and efficiently with team members fostering a collaborative work environment
• Ensure timely response to requests from team members on all deliverables.
• Manage and follow up on delegated deliverables

Other

• Ad- hoc assignments designated to you that may not be part of your normal job description
• Be proactive with your own learning and development to enhance your skills and experience
• Develop new initiatives for best practice procedures within the company
• Adhere to company policy and procedures at all time
• Always ensure a full and comprehensive hand over document is submitted when on leave.

Essential Skills and Experience

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily: 

• Exceptional written and oral English communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Suite and other production software
• Ability to work on your own without supervision as well as working within a team taking direction from your line manager when required
• Comprehensive knowledge and proven experience of the sales and marketing industry
• High standard of integrity, service excellence and a passion for the industry
• Ability to move swiftly and capably from task to task, crisis management and emergencies
• Maturity and temperament to relate to a wide type of clientele
